Emergency Food Assistance

Through its Food Bank and Thrift Store, MFR provides great buys on household items, clothing, and other donated items while raising funds to provide emergency food to struggling families and individuals. This program has contributed emergency food assistance to residents of Manitoulin Island for over 25 years.

FEED ONTARIO - FORK IN THE ROAD

Feed Ontario has developed an interactive website for the public to identify with food bank users forced to make tough choices to make ends meet each month. Four different scenarios illustrate the harsh reality facing those who are struggling to put food on the table.

Feed Ontario's Feeding Possibility! Grant Program

With appreciation to Feed Ontario and the Feeding Possibility! Grant for our much needed new equipment and strategic planning session.  With their support, we are able to provide more to our community and with a structured plan to do so well into the future….

Food Bank

On average, the Food Bank offers support to approximately 350 people a month, a large percentage of whom are children. Volunteers work year-round creating food baskets for families in need, with families and individuals able to access this required service up to once a month. The Christmas season is a particularly busy time for the volunteers, as they prepare more than 1,000 Christmas Baskets for Manitoulin Island families in an effort to ensure a festive season for all. We’re proud to see the amazing strength of our community and glad to be able to help a large number of families in the area. Please contact us is you would like more information about the program or volunteering, or if you need assistance.
